Divide students into groups and assign each group a colony. Students must research their colony through class notes and other resources. Students will also examine modern travel websites to see what kind of language and features are used to convince people to visit their location. Using Google Sites, students first create a website, and then add various subpages to their websites. They would then add text and graphics accordingly.

Students would need a google account and access to a computer.

The video shows screenshots of a sample student website. This project was a joint collaboration between Social Studies, Literacy and Technology teachers. Students were directed as to the kind of information that needed to be on their websites such as who they might meet in their colony, what kinds of activities exist in their colony, jobs, advertisements, restaurants, etc.
