Cultural Considerations

The school and parent body have to be supportive of letting teachers use technology to drive their instruction.

Actions

After the teacher chooses a skill to work on, they could then create a podcast using movenote.com. First, they would need to create slides on Google Presentation in which they describe the skill. They would then download it to movenote and video themselves teaching the skill. Another tool they could use is snagit, which is a chrome extension. This would just require creating slides and the teacher would record herself talking, but the students would not see the teachers face.

Resources

The students need access to a computer and internet to watch the podcast.

Description

When my students came to my class in September, I noticed that many of them were lacking certain basic grammar skills. I knew that with all the material that I needed to cover, I would not be able to review all these skills. So I decided to create weekly grammar podcasts that described a grammar skill. The students would watch the podcast and then complete a homework assignment practicing that skill. Here is a link to one of the podcasts: https://www.movenote.com/v/jCVVhNZOqxxzX

Very well done. The method that you describe enables the students to make progress in a much quicker way. The interactive nature also prevents distraction.
